In order to perform certain academic actions such as course registration, fee payment, exam results, admission online application, application status, acceptance fee payment, transcript, timetable, academic calendar, extra credit hours, deferment of admission, and much more, the University has created the Student Portal for current and prospective students.

To access Blackboard either from your device or computer follow the steps below:

1. Use Chrome or Safari as your browser
2. On the address bar type ithute.smu.ac.za
3. Enter your login credentials as provided to you by the E-learning Unit.
Academic Staff
If you do not have an account yet, please send an email to staff.elearningsupport@swave.smu.ac.za with the following details:
1. Name & Surname,
2. SP Number/ Persal Number
3. Course code
4. Email Address
5. Name of Department
6. Contact Number

All registered students have access to Blackboard. To log in follow the same steps as above.
To reset passwords, send an email to students.elearningsupport@swave.smu.ac.za with your student number.

Turnitin Queries

To access Turnitin either from your device or computer follow the steps below:

3. Enter your login credentials as provided to you by the eLearning Unit.
Staff
Send an email to staff.elearningsupport@swave.smu.ac.za to request a new account with the following details:
