The University of Cape Town (UCT) is a public research university located in Cape Town, South Africa. The university was founded in 1829 as the South African College, and it is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Africa.

The online applications for UCT 2025 will commence on April 2, 2024, welcoming prospective students interested in studying at the University. The application portal for the 2025-2026 academic year will close on July 31, 2024. Any applications received after this deadline will not be considered for the 2025-2026 academic year.

University of Cape Town (UCT) Admission Requirements 2025
The following documents are required to apply online at the University of Cape Town for the 2025-2026 academic year;
South African Applicants
- A certified copy of the first page of your Identity Document or Birth Certificate.
- A certified copy of your Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification. If you are currently in Grade 12, please submit your marks obtained in Grade 11.
- Certified copies of the original Academic record and Certificate of Conduct, or certified copies of other certificates/ diplomas/ degrees you obtained previously from any other higher education institution.
Foreign Applicants
Certified copies of the following applicable documents (must be less than three (3) months old)
- Permanent Residency applicants: Passport and Proof of Permanent Residency/SA ID Document/Card
- Refugee/Asylum seeker temporary permit/formal recognition of refugee status in the RSA
- Passport
- A certified copy of your school-leaving certificate, together with an English translation.
- Congo-Brazzaville applicants must submit the Liste des Admis au Bac together with an English translation of the document.
- Democratic Republic of Contro applicants – Sixth-year Bulletin: Diplom D’Etat and Journal and transcripts of results or Journal or Confirmation of Results from the Embassy.
- Angolan applicants must submit their Portuguese results together with an English translation of the document/s.
- Applicants with results from Gabon, Cameroon, Bangladesh and Burundi countries must submit their French results together with an English translation of the document/s
