NWU University

North-West University (NWU) is a university located in South Africa, with three campuses situated in the North West and Gauteng provinces. The university was established on 1 January 2004 through the merger of two universities, namely the University of North-West and the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various fields, including agriculture, commerce, education, engineering, health sciences, law, humanities, natural sciences, and theology. The NWU is committed to functioning as a unitary, integrated, multi-campus university that enables equity, redress and globally competitive teaching and research across all three of our campuses. How To Apply For North West Online Application

The application process for North-West University (NWU) varies depending on whether you are a South African citizen or an international applicant. Follow the steps below to apply online at NWU for the upcoming academic year;

For South African citizens:

  • Go to the NWU website: https://www.nwu.ac.za/
  • Click on the “Study@NWU” button on the homepage.
  • Select the appropriate level of study, such as undergraduate or postgraduate.
  • Click on the “Applications” button.
  • Click on the “Apply” button.
  • Create an account or log in if you already have one.
  • Fill in the online application form.
  • Upload the required supporting documents, such as your ID document or passport, academic transcripts, and proof of payment of the application fee.
  • Submit your application.

For international applicants:

  • Go to the NWU website: https://www.nwu.ac.za/
  • Click on the “Study@NWU” button on the homepage.
  • Select the appropriate level of study, such as undergraduate or postgraduate.
  • Click on the “Applications” button.
  • Click on the “International students” button.
  • Create an account or log in if you already have one.
  • Fill in the online application form.
  • Upload the required supporting documents, such as your passport, academic transcripts, English proficiency test results, and proof of payment of the application fee.
  • Submit your application.

Applicants are required to provide the following documentation in their applications for the academic year;

Undergraduate students

To consider your application, please upload the following supporting documents. If the application is incomplete, it may be declined by the University:

  • Grade 12 results, grade 11 results (final results only) or a copy of your matric certificate – if you have already passed matric.
  • Applicants who are currently upgrading their grade 12 results, will only be considered after the improved results are presented to the NWU.
  • Applicants who follow Cambridge, GED or any other non-NSC curriculum, or who may qualify for exemption based on advanced age or post-school qualifications, must provide an exemption certificate as issued by USAF.
  • Completed undertaking
  • Copy of your ID
  • Copy of your academic record (if applicable).
  • Additional documents for international prospective students:
    1. A copy of relevant results
    2. A copy of your passport

Postgraduate students

  • Completed mandatory undertaking
  • Copy of your ID
  • Copy of your academic record (if applicable).
