NWU Online Application For 2025-2026:

North-West University (NWU) is a public research university with campuses located in Potchefstroom, Mahikeng, and Vanderbijlpark, South Africa. It was formed in 2004 as a result of a merger between two universities, the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education and the University of the North-West.

NWU is one of the largest universities in South Africa, with a student population of around 73,000 and over 6,500 staff members. The university is known for its commitment to research and innovation, and its graduates are well-regarded in many fields.

The NWU is committed to functioning as a unitary, integrated, multi-campus university that enables equity, redress and globally competitive teaching and research across all three of our campuses. Online Application Opening Date For NWU 2025-2026

The online application portal will open on 1 April- 30 November. Therefore applications must submitted before the closing date. However, late applications may incur extra cost therefore applicants are urged to submit their application early.

Documents Required For NWU Application 2025-2026

Applicants are required to submit the following documents in the application process;

Undergraduate students

To consider your application, please upload the following supporting documents. If the application is incomplete, it may be declined by the University:

Grade 12 results, grade 11 results (final results only) or a copy of your matric certificate – if you have already passed matric.
Applicants who are currently upgrading their grade 12 results, will only be considered after the improved results are presented to the NWU.
Applicants who follow Cambridge, GED or any other non-NSC curriculum, or who may qualify for exemption based on advanced age or post-school qualifications, must provide an exemption certificate as issued by USAF.
Completed undertaking
Copy of your ID
Copy of your academic record (if applicable).
Additional documents for international prospective students:
1. A copy of relevant results
2. A copy of your passport

Postgraduate students

Completed mandatory undertaking
Copy of your ID

NWU Application Procedure 2025-2026

The application process for North-West University (NWU) varies depending on whether you are a South African citizen or an international applicant.

For South African citizens:

Go to the NWU website: https://www.nwu.ac.za/
Click on the “Study@NWU” button on the homepage.
Select the appropriate level of study, such as undergraduate or postgraduate.
Click on the “Applications” button.
Click on the “Apply” button.
Create an account or log in if you already have one.
Fill in the online application form.
Upload the required supporting documents, such as your ID document or passport, academic transcripts, and proof of payment of the application fee.
Submit your application.

For international applicants:
