Online Application At MUT 2025-2026

All first-year applications are submitted through the Central Applications Office (CAO). This is a simplified way of applying for more than one programme, using one application form, and paying a single application fee. Use your unique CAO number as a reference when paying the application fee. We advise prospective students to choose MUT as their first choice.
Application forms can be downloaded from the CAO website, www.cao.ac.za. You may also apply online by going to www.cao.ac.za, clicking on the apply tab, then clicking on apply now and following the easy application process.
The CAO number appears in the tear-off slip on the CAO application form. You can track the progress of your application by going to www.cao.ac.za and entering your CAO number, sending an email enqgeneralcao@cao.ac.za or calling 031 268 4444.
Online Application Opening Dates And Deadlines At MUT 2025-2026
The online application portal of MUT for the 2025-2026 academic year opens in January and closes on the dates below;

  • Faculty of Engineering – first semester applications – 30 September
  • Faculty of Engineering – second-semester applications – 31 May
  • Faculty of Natural Sciences – 30 September
  • Analytical Chemistry – second-semester applications – 31 May
  • Faculty of Management Sciences – 30 September
  • Applications submitted after 30 September accumulate a late application fee determined by the CAO.

MUT Minimum Admission Requirements 2025-2026

The minimum admission requirements for the various faculties at MUT for the 2025-2026 academic year includes;

Faculty of Management Sciences

  • English, Maths, Accounting
  • All at 50% and above
  • Further departmental screening processes
  • A minimum of 25 points is required for all programmes

 Engineering Faculty

  • English, Maths, Physics
  • All at 50% and above
  • Further departmental screening processes

Faculty of Natural Sciences

  • English, Maths, Physical Science, Agricultural Science, Life Sciences
  • All at 50% and above
  • Further departmental screening processes
Online Application At MUT Required Documents
To apply online for the 2025-2026 academic year at MUT, the following are required;
South African Students
  • Grade 11 final results, grade 12 June exam results, National Senior Certificate or Statement of Results
  • Identity Document or ID card
  • Students transferring from other universities should submit an academic record and a certificate of conduct.

International Applicants

  • A valid passport
  • A valid medical insurance cover
  • Police clearance certificate
  • SGCE, GCE, GCSE, IGCSE or Cambridge School Certificate
