UCT (University of Cape Town) is a state research university located in Cape Town in the Western Cape region of South Africa. The University was established in 1829 as the South African College, making it the oldest University institute in South Africa.

UCT is an inclusive and engaged research-intensive African university that inspires creativity through outstanding achievements in learning, discovery and citizenship; enhancing the lives of its students and staff, advancing a more equitable and sustainable social order and influencing the global higher education landscape. UCT has six campuses, including Upper, Middle and Lower campuses; Hiddingh Campus; the Health Sciences Campus; and the Breakwater Campus, which has a newly established satellite facility in Phillippi.   • Applicant must obtain grade 12
  • A valid copy of your Identity Document
  • Proof of the payment receipt of your application fee. This fee is not refundable.
  • A unique email address when applying either online or in a hard copy.

You can fill out an application online. To apply online you will need a working email address and your South African identity number, or, if you are an international applicant, your passport number:

This UCT online application window is open for;

  • First-time UCT applicants
  • UCT students changing to a new qualification and/or specialization
  • Applicants who previously applied for admission and were not offered a space or who were offered a space accepted the offer and did not register
  • students completing a higher certificate or any other programme and who wish to continue with further undergraduate studies
