UCT Exam Timetable

This article is to notify all students of the University of Cape Town, UCT that the management of the institution has published the Semester One Examination Timetable for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Exams are written in the ‘exam period which is set annually and published in the academic calendar. The final exam timetable is set centrally by the university and is not flexible. The rules require that students write the exam on the date and in the venue published in the exam timetable. It is important you only make travel arrangements after the semester (and exam session) has ended. If you need to make plans for an internship programme or you have any queries regarding suitable dates to leave, please check the academic calendar or email ssa@uct.ac.za.

What happens if you miss an exam UCT?

Missing an exam due to illness and injury
If you cannot write an exam because of illness or injury, or if you fall ill in the exam venue, you must notify the academic department (or exam venue invigilator) and then report immediately to the Student Wellness Centre for assessment.

What is a UCT pass mark?

South African Senior Certificate undergraduate applicants to UCT must have achieved a pass of 40% or more on the Higher Grade in English (First or Second Language) at Senior Certificate level.

UCT Application Process

UCT online application will be open from April 1st through July 30 each year for interested students who wish to study at the University. Applications received after this date will not be considered;
UCT Application Fee
The application fee is normally R100. Your initial payment is due in early February (or at registration if earlier).

  • Applicant must obtain grade 12
  • A valid copy of your Identity Document
  • Proof of the payment receipt of your application fee. This fee is not refundable.
  • A unique email address when applying either online or in a hard copy.

How To Apply Online For The University Of Cape Town 2024-2025

You can fill out an application online. In order to apply online you will need a working email address and your South African identity number, or, if you are an international applicant, your passport number:

  • First-time UCT applicants
  • UCT students changing to a new qualification and/or specialization
  • Applicants who previously applied for admission and were not offered a space or who were offered a space accepted the offer and did not register
  • students completing a higher certificate or any other programme and who wish to continue with further undergraduate studies
