University Of Pretoria Chemical Engineering
Chemical engineering has a role in many facets of human life, including the production of food and energy, clean water and sanitation, shelter and healthcare, as well as other value-added goods employing chemical, biological and physico-chemical processes. Sadly, these processes’ unexpected byproducts have seriously harmed both the ecology and human life.
By closing the material cycles and producing value-added goods from the waste products of these processes using green and sustainable processes, as illustrated below, the training provided by the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Pretoria equips its graduates with the necessary skills that could be directed at eliminating or minimising the negative ecological footprints of unsustainable chemical engineering activities. The Department is equally equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to support our academic and research programmes.
