National Benchmark Test (NBT) Intake Requirements 2025-2026: Which Universities Require NBT for 2025-2026:

The NBT is an exam that is given to first-year candidates in colleges and universities. The test is designed to assess your ability to apply your language, numerical, and mathematical knowledge to the challenges of higher education coursework.

Universities South Africa’s Nationwide Benchmark Test Project is a national project (formerly known as Higher Education South Africa: HESA).
Some universities in South Africa utilize the NBTs and the National Senior Certificate (NSC) to determine admission to higher education. In contrast, others use the tests to indicate the type of learning help a student will require during their studies.

How To Obtain Your NBT Results For 2025-2026

Your results are uploaded to your NBT account approximately four weeks after your tests, by noon on the date listed on the NBT Test Schedule.

How To Login To Your NBT Account

To log in to your account: Your username is your ID number and your password is the one you created when you registered. If you have forgotten your password, use the password reminder link on the login page.

Why Your NBT Results Are Not Available

Your results will not be accessible if there is an outstanding balance on your account. If you have an outstanding balance, it means that an earlier test was booked, but not paid for. Unless an emergency prevents you from writing that test, you will have to pay for it to view your results.

How Long Does It Take For Your NBT Result Be Sent To Your University

Your results are made available to any institution to which you have applied approximately three weeks after you have written your tests.
There is no need to send your results to institutions. Institutions to which you have applied will request your results from NBT

How To Book A National Benchmark Test (NBT) Intake 2024-2025 for Registration

NBT Registration for 2025 is strictly online. To register follow the steps below:

Go to the NBT Registration website: https://nbtests.uct.ac.za/ for 2025
Read the registration instructions before you proceed
Then, click on “Book a Test”
Enter your “Personal Information” in the spaces provided
Provide your “Contact Information”
Select your Test / Venue
After that, take the “Survey”
Submit your registration for review

Your registration confirmation and account details will be sent to the email address you provided. Make sure your cellphone number and email address are active.

What Do You Need To Book A National Benchmark Test (NBT)

Your official ID book (if you are not a citizen of South Africa, you will need your passport)
City and site where you want to write
NBT requirements from the institutions where you plan to apply
Date when you want to write (allow 4 weeks to receive results)
Pen and paper to record your username and EasyPay number
