Sefako Makgatho Health University Application Date
The application period for 2024 begins on April 1 with the following deadlines:

B Radiography, B Dental Surgery, B Pharmacy, B Dental Therapy, MBChB, BSc Physiotherapy
26 July:
BSc, BSc Diet, B Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, B Occupational Therapy, B Oral Hygiene, B Nursing Sciences

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS FOR BACHELOR’S DEGREES SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
- Copy of your ID/passport document (compulsory).
- Copy of your final Grade 11 results or your National Senior/Matric/ IEB Certificate (if you have already completed Grade 12).
- Copy of your degree certificate(s) and academic record(s) (if you attended other universities).
- Copy of your marriage certificate/divorce decree (if applicable).
- Proof of non-refundable application fee payment of R200.

- SMU in keeping up with international standards, bases selection on academic and nonacademic measurable variables and ensures that selected students have the ability/ potential to successfully complete their studies in the required minimum time.
- SMU endeavors to attract talented students from all demographic groupings in South Africa whilst prioritizing transformation. In this regard, a quota system based on a principle that promotes equitable chances and fairness to students from all population groups (Indigenous Africans – 80.2%; Coloureds – 8.8%; Whites – 8.5%; Indians/Asians – 2.5%) is applied in all selection process excluding the special foundation medicine program. This proportion is based on the census demography of the SA population and will apply from one census to the other annually. The selection process is done in three phases.
