How long is a short course at UCT?
The UCT Teaching With Technology online short course helps you discover how to integrate technology into your classroom over eight weeks. UCT short courses are offered on the GetSmarter platform and applications and fees are administered by GetSmarter.
Course participation is entirely online and will require up to 8 hours of participation per week.
A certificate of completion is awarded for the successful completion of 75% of the assessed activities of the course including some mandatory activities.
University of Cape Town (UCT) Admission Requirements 2025
Applicants are required to provide the following documents to apply;
- Applicant must obtain grade 12
- A valid copy of your Identity Document
- Proof of the payment receipt of your application fee. This fee is not refundable.
- A unique email address when applying either online or in a hard copy.

You can fill out an application online. To apply online you will need a working email address and your South African identity number, or, if you are an international applicant, your passport number:
This UCT online application window is open for;
- First-time UCT applicants
- UCT students changing to a new qualification and/or specialization
- Applicants who previously applied for admission and were not offered a space or who were offered a space accepted the offer and did not register
- students completing a higher certificate or any other programme and who wish to continue with further undergraduate studies
