The University of the Free State (UFS) has a rich history as one of South Africa’s oldest and most respected higher education institutions. It began in Bloemfontein in 1904 as the Grey University College, welcoming just six students who were studying Humanities. Today, it has grown into a multi-campus university, with two campuses in Bloemfontein and a third in Qwaqwa, located in the picturesque Eastern Free State.
Every year, the university opens its doors for applicants both South African citizens and international applicants to apply for admission into a programme of their choice provided they meet the application requirements. For the academic year 2025-2026, UFS will be open for application submission from the 1st of April 2024.
UFS online application portal for admission opens until August for interested students who wish to enrol on the various courses and programs at the institution. Spaces at the University are limited, interested applicants are advised to apply on time, however, applications received after the deadline are not considered for admission.
Applicants must ensure that they meet the entry requirements stated by the University before applying.
