This is to inform all the prospective candidates offered provisional admission or probably seeking admission into the University of Pretoria (UP) for the 2024-2025 academic session that the management of the institution has released the amount they are required to pay as fees for application form and registration (when given admission).

The University of Pretoria’s fees for applications are highly affordable for learners interested in joining different programmes.

University Of Pretoria Application Fee

When you submit your UPOnline study application, you will need to pay an application fee of R300 (US$30)

  • Please note that the application fee is non-refundable.
  • Please make use of the following payment options:
    • Online credit card payment as part of this application submission, i.e. by paying with a valid credit card with sufficient funds and by entering the correct details.
    • Note that the online application system can only process payments that reference valid credit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express or Diners Club) information, with sufficient funds.
      OR
    • Use alternative mechanisms (eg. Electronic Funds Transfer or a bank deposit) to pay the application fee into the University of Pretoria’s bank account.
    • When making such deposits please quote your temporary online study application number (typically in the form T1234567) that would have been emailed to you as the payment reference.
    • When making such deposits, you must retain the proof of payment as you will be required to scan and upload the PDF file together with your other supporting documents.

 

Please note that when you are making payment, the application fee is paid into the Application Fee Account, and the tuition fee is paid into the Tuition Fee Account.

Always quote your student number (EMPLID) when making payments.

The preferred payment method is EFT or direct bank deposits. EFT payments will not reflect on the same day.

For the ABSA online banking page, click here for help setting up first-time online banking. Search with ‘UNI’ as ABSA listed beneficiary and choose the ‘University of Pretoria student’ option. This will reflect UP’s bank account number 214 000 0054 when making a payment and will allow you to use your student number as a reference.

Please view your student account on the UP Portal Self-Service for the amount payable. Students with no hold on their accounts may proceed with registration.

  • Please upload your POP (Proof of Payment/deposit slip) in your Supporting Documentation folder on the UP Student Portal. On the “Student’s Supporting Documentation” screen under the option, ‘Relates to’ select ‘UPOnline Documents’. In the ‘Doc Type’ dropdown, select the ‘Proof of Student Payment’ document type and then upload the POP file.

South African Citizens

All South African students should allow at least five working days for processing by their bank before the payment deadline and retain the proof of payment (POP – deposit slip).

International payments

If international students pay from the bank in their home country it may take up to 10 working days for the payment to reflect in UP’s account. Please pay well in advance of the payment deadline.

International payments can be made using a credit card (provided you have 3D one-time PIN security in place with your own bank) on the University website, or by doing a SWIFT transfer from your bank in your own country.

Please use the correct University bank account for the various international transactions.
