WestCol is a TVET college based in the West Rand of Gauteng. WestCol has seven different campuses across this region and offers a wide range of technical and vocational courses. the general information that every students or applicants must know.

Westcol Tvet College General Information 2023-2024 On BURSARY APPLICATION

  1. ONLY South African citizen are eligible to apply.
  2. Student must be registered or intending to register on an NC (V) or Report 191programme.
  3. In need of financial assistance (a Means Test is administered to determine whether or not a student meets this criterion).
  4. Able to demonstrate potential for academic success.

THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS APPLY:

  1. Student must enrol more than three (3) subjects to be eligible for a bursary.
  2. Only students that were academically successful may apply for the next academic level.
  3. Westcol reserves the right to verify the information on the application form. This information will be treated as confidential.
  4. This bursary is not applicable for employer students.
  5. Student may ONLY apply for EITHER the transport or accommodation allowance.
  6. 100% class attendance is expected to qualify for the transport or accommodation allowance.
  7. Bursary recipients who switch from one programme to another (i.e. from NC (V) to Report 191 programme N1 – N3 or vice-versa) or change programmes within an NC (V) or Report 191 programme during the course of their studies are not eligible for financial assistance.
  8. Bursary recipients who complete NC (V) Level 4 are not eligible for financial assistance should they want to enrol for another NC (V) programme or Report 191 programme N1 – N3.

Similarly bursary recipients who complete Report 191 N4 – N6 are not eligible for financial assistance should they want to enrol for another Report 191 programme N4 – N6 or an NC (V) programme.

  1. Bursary recipients who complete NC (V) Level 4 are only eligible for financial assistance should they want to enrol for Report 191 N4 – N6.

Westcol Tvet College General Information 2023-2024 On How To Apply For Nsfas

  1. 1.Please visit the NSAF website – nsfas.org.za or follow the link on our website – www.westcol.co.za.
  2. You may also choose to visit any Westcol TVET Campus – Student Support Service for assistance.
  3. Please ensure that you have the correct documents (certified not older than 3 months) in electronic format available:
    • Your South African ID or a birth certificate( if you do not have a green bar-coded ID or smart ID card)
    • ID of parents and/or guardian or death certificate where applicable.

3.3   Pay advice/letter of employment/ pension advice stating income of parents and/or guardian (SASSA slips are not
required and SASSA should not be included as household income

  1.  Please ensure that you download the CONSENT FORM and that it is completed by your parent/s and or guardian – this

has to be attached to your Application form – see flip-side for details

PLEASE NOTE:

  1. All bursary APPLICATIONS are subject to the approval by National Student Funding Scheme (NSFAS).
  2. You will be informed regarding the outcome of the bursary application. – NSFAS will send this notification with regards to the outcome of your application.
  3. Parents/guardians/spouses/students will be held responsible for the payment of the tuition and other fees until the bursary is paid to Westcol.
  4. Should the student be awarded a bursary the paid fees will be refunded. Please apply for a refund at the campus administration.
  5. Start attending classes immediately, DO NOT wait for the outcome of the bursary applications.
  6. A Schedule of Particulars (SoP) must be signed as an acceptance of the bursary and must be submitted to the campus bursary office.

  • Submit documentation – you will receive notifications via email about your progress.
  • Please read the minimum requirements before you apply.
  • Westcol reserves the right to discontinue a programme based on insufficient student numbers or to move it to another campus.
  • You need an active e-mail account as we will be communicating with you through emails.
  • You must continuously check your email to ensure that you do not miss any communication.
  • All documents to be submitted should be originally certified copies and the certification should not be older than 6 months.
  • Please make sure that you scan the documents in PDF format:
  • Grade 12 certificate/Statement of results/Latest school report/DHET certificate
  • ID document
  • Proof of residence
