University Of Rhodes Online Application 2025-2026
The Rhodes University Applications for 2025-2026 are now open. Rhodes University encourages prospective students to apply online or paper-based application as soon as possible for the upcoming academic year. Rhodes offers undergraduate degrees and postgraduate degrees and diplomas, as well as a range of short courses and part-time and online courses.
If your application form is inaccurate or lacks information, the processing of your application will be delayed. Please be informed that providing false information will result in the prompt rejection of your application.

Rhodes Application Date 2025-2026
Rhodes’s online application is expected to start on 1st April and close on 30 September. Prospective applicants are urged to submit their applications before the closing date.
How much is Rhodes’s Application fee?
Initial applications for admission must be accompanied by a non-refundable application fee of R100 for all applicants.

Entry Requirement For Rhodes University 2025-2026
Your application will only be considered for admission to the University if you qualify for a Bachelor’s degree study. This qualification involves completing seven subjects, including two languages, Life Orientation, and either Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy, as well as three subjects of your choice from those offered at the school.
Furthermore, to be eligible for degree studies at Rhodes University, you must achieve an English language proficiency rating of 4 (50 – 59%) or above.
Additionally, at least four of your seven subjects must be chosen from a recommended list, and you must attain a rating of 4 (50 – 59%) or above in these subjects. Meeting faculty requirements also entails fulfilling specific subject criteria and achieving the required percentage.
International Requirements
An APS score of 40 points or higher will result in a definite offer, while scores ranging from 37 to 39 will be kept on hold until the end of September, pending consideration by the Dean if space permits. Candidates offering a combination of Advanced level (A), Advanced Subsidiary level (AS), Ordinary level (O), Higher International General Certificate of Secondary Education (HIGCSE), and International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) will have five (5) different subjects counted.
The basic minimum requirement for admission to the University is a certificate of Full Exemption or Foreign Conditional Exemption from the Matriculation Board.

Things to note before applying online to RU:
- You’ll need an email address to complete the application. Don’t have one? Get an email address first.
- South African applicants will need an ID number. Foreign applicants will need their passport numbers.
- You will need to have registered for the NBTs before applying online.
- You will need to pay an application fee.
- Need accommodation? Make sure you mark this on your application form.
- Remember to check faculty-specific requirements before applying.
- Please note: Postgraduate applicants can only apply online.

Rhodes University Application Process 2025-2026
Follow the steps below to apply online at Rhodes University;
- To apply online visit: www.ru.ac.za/admissiongateway
- Register on the online system at https://ross.ru.ac.za/ using your email address and creating a password
- You will then be sent an email with a link to activate you on the system.
- Click the link to activate your registration.
- This process will take you back to ROSS where you need to click the Admission/another button (clicking the right button here is important)
- You will then be allowed to enter your login and password created in step one.
- Once you have completed your application you need to tick the button accepting the terms and conditions and submit.
- When you have submitted you are required to pay the R100 application fee. Various options are provided by the system.
- If you pay your application fee to the bank you need to use your application number as the reference and email the deposit slip to us.
- Once you have completed the process above we will process the application and you are provided with a student number and login.
NOTE: If you don’t meet the APS score of 45 points for automatic acceptance, there’s still a chance for consideration at the Dean’s discretion. However, such offers typically come with additional conditions. Therefore, it’s crucial to provide comprehensive information when filling out the application form, as this is what the Dean will rely on when making a decision.
