The management of the University of Kwazulu-Natal has released its postgraduate application form for interested applicants to download and apply before the application deadline. Application for admission to Postgraduate Certificates, Postgraduate Diplomas, Honours, Master and PhD programmes must be made on the Postgraduate Application Form.

The online application form can be accessible on the following dates;

Honours and Postgraduate Diplomas

  • Semester 2: 30 April

Masters Coursework

  • Semester 1: 31 October

UKZN Application Requirements 2025-2026

Please remember to upload the following documents (where applicable)
  • Certified copy of your ID/passport.
  • Certified copy of your National Senior/Matric Certificate or O/A Levels or relevant school leaving qualification/certificate.
  • Proof from Universities South Africa (previously known as HESA), that you qualify for admission to degree studies at South African universities if you are an international applicant. For more information, refer to the undergraduate prospectus
  • If you attended other universities, certified copies of your degree certificate(s), academic record and certificate of conduct.
  • Proof of English proficiency for International applicants from non-English speaking countries.
  • South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) evaluations if the previous qualification(s) was/were obtained at foreign universities (outside South Africa).
  • A research proposal/proposed title of the dissertation/thesis if you are applying for a master’s Degree or PhD.
  • A valid study visa to study in SA if you are an International applicant.
  • Before applying online please make sure that you have read the guidelines above.
  • Please ensure that you have the USAF/SAQA documents to be uploaded to complete your application.
  • Please ensure to use the reference APPN (followed by your student number) when making the application fee payment.
  • Please allow the system 24 hrs to 48 hrs to clear your payment.
  • South African first-time undergraduate applicants applying to UKZN must apply via CAO at www.cao.ac.za

How To Apply For UKZN Online Application 2025-2026

Follow the steps below to apply online at UKZN for the 2025-2026 academic year;

  • Visit the official application website of  UKZN at https://ww1.applications.ukzn.ac.za/
  • Download the online application
  • Complete the application form with the required information and attach certified copies of your ID and Matric Statement (All certified copies should not be more than 3 months old) as well as proof of payment of an application fee.
  • The non-refundable application fee or proof of payment MUST accompany this application form. International and local applicants: Application fees can be paid by electronic transfer/bank deposit
  • The application form MUST be completed as fully and accurately as possible to avoid processing delays. Use names appearing on the identity document when completing the form.
  • Submit your completed application before the closing date.
