UNISA Application Tool
The UNISA Application Tool is an online platform designed by the University of South Africa (UNISA) to simplify the application process for prospective students. The UNISA online application tool is online is only available online on the official website of the university during the application period.

University Of South Africa UNISA Online Application Date For 2025-2026
Below are the online application dates for Unisa application for the study year 2025-2026:
- Applications for admission to undergraduate qualifications for the 2025 academic year are yet to be opened.
- Applications for admission to honours degrees and postgraduate diplomas for the 2025 academic year re-open for limited qualifications from 23 January to 8 February 2025.
- Applications for admission to master’s and doctoral qualifications for the academic year are closed (some exceptions apply). If a qualification does not reflect on the drop-down list of qualifications, it means that the qualification is not available during this extended application period.
- Applications and registrations for Short Learning Programmes are open from 14 November 2024 to 28 February 2025.

- Applicants applying to Unisa for 2025 are to pay R115 for online application fees
- R185 for hard copy applications (hard copy applications will only be considered in exceptional cases)

Who Can Apply Online At UNISA 2025-2026
Applications for admission to undergraduate qualifications (higher certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas & degrees) for the 2025 academic year are open and continuous. Apply now!
Everyone wanting to start a new qualification must apply for admission. This includes
- first-time Unisa applicants
- Unisa students changing to a new qualification and/or specialisation
- applicants who previously applied for admission and were either not offered a space or were offered a space and did not register
- students completing a higher certificate or alternative pathway / extended programme who wish to continue with further undergraduate studies
NOTE:
- All applications for admission must be submitted online during the prescribed application period.
- Applicants who plan to enrol for classes at a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college under the Unisa-TVET agreement may apply via the relevant TVET college or at Unisa via the online or self-help options.
- If you were not offered a space at Unisa, you can contact the Central Applications Clearing House (CACH) at DHED.
Documents Required To Apply Online At UNISA 2025-2026
The following documents are required to apply online at UNISA 2025-2026;
- A valid copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)
- A certified copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
- An original copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
- A certified copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
- Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans
How To Apply Online At UNISA 2025-2026
- You may apply for a maximum of two qualifications, ranked in order of preference (although you may only register for one should both of your qualifications be successful).
- Unisa will inform you of the outcome of your application. If successful, Unisa will indicate for which qualification you have been accepted and will offer you a space for the period for which you have applied (ie semester 1).
- You must accept or decline Unisa’s offer within the prescribed period. If you miss this deadline, Unisa will withdraw the offer and give your space to another applicant.
- First-time applicants to Unisa will be required to complete the First-Year Experience (FYE) MOOC (massive open online course) before being able to accept Unisa’s offer.
- You may only accept one offer. This means that when you accept an offer for one qualification (irrespective of whether it is your first or second qualification of choice), the other offer will automatically fall away.
- If you accept Unisa’s offer, you must register for the period for which you have been granted admission. Should you not register for the relevant semester of study, you will need to re-apply for admission during the next application period.
What does the selection process entail?
The selection process at UNISA includes the following;
- The calculation of your individual points score, which includes your final Grade 12 grades as well as other significant characteristics like the school you attended, your gender, socioeconomic status, race, and so forth, is at the centre of the selection process.
- Please confirm that you meet the legal and college-specific admission requirements as well as the necessary academic points score (APS) for your desired qualification before applying (s). - It is important to note that you will not automatically be accepted to study through Unisa in 2024. Students will be accommodated based on the number of spaces available for each qualification.
